If you are decorating a nursery for a baby girl, you can really go to town with pink. No doubt, pink curtains will only be the start of many pink items to come. However, you should not get carried away too much by the color when it comes to curtains as there are a few practical things you need to take into account.

When you read reviews of some curtains meant for the nursery, you will find one or two complaints about insubstantial, thin fabrics. The thing is, if you want your nursery to look nice, then the quality of the curtains counts. You can buy beautiful pink gingham curtains which seem to be fresh and lovely for a baby girl’s room, but if they do not hang well because they are not lined or because the manufacturers used cheap polyester rather than thick cotton, then your room is not going to look good.

Also, consider whether you might want to retain the curtains to save money as your child gets older. In that case, lining becomes all important to block out the light and help them sleep when it is light outside. pink curtainsAs a parent, believe me, you will not regret the extra expense of lining! Also, if you may be keeping your curtains for a few years, consider the design. Classic pink fabric like gingham will work for years – it is even fine for adult rooms – but bunnies and teddies will soon be outgrown.

There is no need to have everything in exactly the same fabric or from the same coordinated range in your cute baby nursery decor anyway. You can be more creative and end up with a more interesting room, if you choose curtains or crib bedding first and then look for individual items which go together. That way you could use as many bunnies and teddies on the crib bedding as you like, yet keep the curtains suitable for any age.
