kids rugsIf you see the prices charged for some kids rugs you may be disappointed to discover that they are outside your budget. You want the best for your child, we all do, but some of the high costs for nursery products are bordering on the ridiculous, especially as you know most nursery items will need to be replaced within a very short time, when your child outgrows them. If you would like a beautiful soft rug for your nursery floor, however, there is no need to restrict yourself to the baby departments and stores with their designer offerings. Here are some alternative ideas.

1. Choose Any Bright Rug

You will find some beautiful rugs in bright colors, which would look great in the nursery, if you coordinate your color scheme. A simple bright red rug might be all you need or one in any color of the rainbow. You will find rugs in every color online. You will also find cute baby rugs with large spots of color and those with bold stripes or large flower designs. All are ideal for the nursery. You could even base your nursery color scheme on your rug, to make life easier, making basic items in neutral white or cream and adding other accessories in the color of your rug.

2. Use a Bath Rug

In some ways bath rugs are ideal for a nursery. They are washable and most have non-slip backing for safety and they are available in all kinds of colors. Choose a round shaggy rug, if you can, so that it looks less like a standard bath rug and more like the stylish cheerful floor rug it is.

3. Use a Play Rug

Although your child might not be ready for playing games on the floor for a while, you could buy a play rug, which will serve your child well for when they are a little bit older. (You will be surprised at how quickly that time will come). You can get play rugs at reasonable prices with streets marked out for playing with cars and those marked with board games ready for fun in a couple of years. They are all fun bright rugs which will add softness and warmth to your nursery as well as a bit of fun.
